Decorative gift boxes

Hello all. So sorry for not posting for long. I have issues with my P.C /Laptop and the internet connection. Hope this gets solved ASAP.

      We received an order for 100 decorative gift boxes/packing for a wedding ceremony.These packets having rice, betelnut and haldi/kumkum  are given to married women as a ritual along with the return gifts.

       We have made cones, small purses and basic chocolate/toffee shapes using cardsheet paper, ribbons, coloured gems/stones , coloured tape and fine plastic bags for that extra glossy look. We thought of something and ended up making something  else. It was fun but in the process spoiled a few paper sheets and plastic bags! Well, trial and error is what gives you the required experience. 

And the good news...this was loved by the guests..and another order was confirmed..!

Engagement Ring Tray..with Quilling

In my previous post I mentioned about an order for an engagement ring tray. Since both the bride and groom had an hotel industry background, we thought of making a restaurant theme ring tray with miniature quilling. We bought a bamboo tray  and decorated it with ribbons, beads, pearls . 
           
                Also, quilled miniature stuff was stuck on tables made from cardboard.  My friend made fruits, pasta, ice-cream, french fries and little quilled roses. It was a fun experience.

Quilled Jewellery

Hello...Its been long since I posted on my blog... I was busy with guests and a cousins wedding. These quilled earrings were already done but I just could not post .I have also quilled some  birds with the help of a you tube video along with a gem tree , pictures of which I will post soon. I hope you like these little pieces of jewellery. 

Quilled Card- ICRC28 challenge.

Being a member at ICR is fun..,talented people across the globe sharing their work. I came across this post and decided to make a card as per the rules mentioned .This is my first ever entry in any online challenge. I hope you like it.

Here are the pictures of the card I made. A very simple one with a little quilling, speech bubble and a witty sentiment . I had these 3-D liners in silver and gold which I never used. It gave a special look to the card.

Our first order was appreciated by all at the engagement ceremony and guess what? We received our second order there but they wanted something different. So, this was what we made. We used quilling and different papers to create this. Hope you like it.

Wall-Decor.

I had few boxes filled with goodies that I received during Diwali .This is how I used one of them to create something Indian..very Indian..This particular box had a beautiful laced border . Could'nt throw it away. So, just came up with an idea which everybody appreciated. 
   
I did not spend a single penny on this. No extra efforts put in, just a pair of scissors ,some creativity and the magic is done.

Cut a square shape in the centre of the lid so that it looked like a frame. 

A metal  ornament my mom bought for me from Madhya Pradesh (Central India).

Just rested the cardboard frame on the nail...

This elegant piece now decorates a wall in my house .

Origami Mobile

I' m posting after a long time.Was busy with guests, ceremonies, festivals...Have few projects half completed.This origami mobile was one of them. Had coloured small sized square papers at home. So, made these cranes to hang in my terrace. It required  a hanger, some thread, needle,glue and of course few origami cranes that I learned from a you tube video.

I used a hanger that was lying unused at home .You can cover it with fabric, paper , jute rope or even paint it as per your choice.

Paper Lanterns

"DIWALI"-the festival of lights; is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. Diwali commemorates the return of Lord Rama, along with Sita and Lakshmana, from his 14-year-long exile and vanquishing the demon-king Ravana. In joyous celebration of the return of their king, the people of Ayodhya, the Capital of Rama, illuminated the kingdom with earthen diyas and by bursting firecrackers.

        
          I would be celebrating my favourite festival of lights with my family and friends in a few days to come. We would decorate our houses with a variety of lanterns, earthern diyas, rangolis. These lanterns are symbol of light. Diwali itself means Light. 
       
        Here are the pictorial instructions of the traditional Diwali lanterns, I made:


    

1) Material required

2) Basic structure made out of chart paper

3) Small squares cut out of Kite Paper

4) Stick the squares diagonally with very little glue

5) Stick these shapes to the basic structure

6) Cover the whole structure..

7) Cut tiny squares of golden paper and decorate the centre of each shape along with a strip to cover the top and the bottom.

8) Stick long strips from the inside of the structure at the bottom

We just need to add the string/ ribbon at the top to hang them.

 We can also use these to decorate (not just on the eve of the festival) little corners in the house with different kinds of papers and colours available.

Paper Bowl

After making paper beads from an old magazine paper , I tried making this bowl from the same paper. It turned out to be very sturdy n beautiful.

Paper Flowers

I made these paper flowers with some left-over kite paper...Had learned making them in school. They are very easy to make and look beautiful.
